Dear CUPA Community,
Another week has passed in one of the most uncertain and challenging times that many of us have experienced before, and we as an organization just want to recognize how significant all of this continues to be. We send our best to each of you and your families and hope that you remain safe and well during the coming days, weeks, and months.
Acknowledging that we are still just in the early stages of the full cycle of this pandemic, we are prepared for whatever duration is necessary to be socially responsible, prioritize the well-being of our members, and eventually return to regular activities as soon as safely possible. We already know that the recent Stay at Home Order for Ohio creates a milestone of April 6 but anticipate the likelihood that this date extends at some point. USA Ultimate has set their current date of note to May 10 and WFDF has already started cancelling events into the summer. All told, it’s clear that there is still a long road ahead of us before this all gets resolved.
While CUPA doesn’t have specific decisions or timelines to communicate today, it’s worth preparing for the possibility (and even likelihood) that the rest of the Spring ultimate season will need to eventually be cancelled. We will remain attentive to the same resources that we’ve used all along and be prepared to get things rolling when we can, but at this time field sites are shut down and planning is increasingly difficult with the available information changing daily. Our intention is to continue making decisions on an approximate weekly basis (unless something dictates a more timely response) and we will keep our community informed as best we can.
Thanks to all of you for supporting each other and being responsible members of our immediate and extended communities. I encourage everyone to find ways to stay engaged with friends and teammates in the plethora of available methods that still exercise physical distancing. Call a friend, send GroupMe messages to your teams, share positive messages across social media, and do what you can to take care of yourself and help those around you. If you need anything, let me know and I’ll be happy to do what I can. Stay well and we’ll see you soon enough.
Thanks,
Ryan Gorman
